What to Expect from Your First Private Pilates Session
- Underwear that has those cute jewels. You may be asked to "imprint" your spine into the ground right where that bead is sewn into the garment. Ouch!
- Belts - see above.
- Bras with hooks or snaps that could dig into your back. "Roll like a ball" and allow the thoracic spine to open -- pain-free, skin-in-tact. However we do recommend wearing a bra to keep The Girls in place.
- Very flowy pants. They look great when you are upright, but be aware that they show a lot of leg when you bring those legs into the air. Also, any extra material can get caught in the springs.
- Shorts that show a lot of leg. Your butt may be very cute, but you may find yourself adjusting your shorts throughout the session to prevent too much from showing. Also, if you choose to wear shorts, you should be comfortable with those beautiful legs showing. You want to be able to separate your legs in the air without worry or self-conciousness.
- Watches, bracelets, very dangly earrings that could get caught in the springs or accidentally tugged.
- Shoes. We work with socks on but no shoes. If you have "toe socks" where your toes are separated, your trainer will be happy because we love to look at your feet.
- Barrettes or hair pins that might cause discomfort when you lie down. Please tie your hair back if you have long hair.
- Lots of make-up or any moisturizers with oil. You will probably be asked to lay face down at some point for extension work. We prefer to keep the equipment clear of make-up and extra oils that can cause damage to the material. We clean the equipment after every session but we prefer to be on the safe side. Also, we don't want you to slide around when you are trying to "stabilize" your body. It's just not safe.
