"I began working with Beth at the Pilates Collective after having difficulty recovering from surgery for a torn labrum in my right hip due to a cycling injury. I was experiencing a lot of pain associated with the strength imbalance that had developed leading up to and following the surgery. Despite extensive physical therapy the hip was not recovering well.
Beth's approach has been to take time to observe and understand my body's overall alignment, not only the hip, to try to understand where imbalances existed. Using that understanding she has focused on increasing strength and guiding uniform development using the Pilates method. In addition to improving overall fitness, the workouts have loosened and strengthened the hip in a way that no other exercise or therapy has done so far allowing freedom of movement without pain. I am also happy to report that my efficiency on the bike has returned to almost pre-surgery levels.
